Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C Design Malaysia
I found the Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C to be quite lightweight and compact with the slimmest areas of the monitor measuring hardly 7.3mm.
But that’s not the case about the lower half of the monitor as all of its components and ports are positioned here, so it’s slightly thicker than the rest of the body.

The monitor also comes with a slim profile metal stand that has rubber padding under the legs which helps keep it stable and prevents the display from sliding across the table or any flat surface.
The back of the Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C is pretty simple too, there’s a Mi logo as well as 4 ports including the power input and a joystick toggle button that can be used to navigate the on-screen settings as well as turn on and turn off the display.

At the front sits the indicator light, right underneath the display in the middle with no other buttons or switches. This could be because Xiaomi wanted to provide a monitor with the panel as its primary focus and hence the lack of navigation buttons at the front.
All-in-all, the 1C has a professional design and the one thing I really liked about this monitor is that it weighs hardly 2.7kg and it is extremely easy to carry or reposition.
Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C Display
In terms of the display, the Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C delivers beautifully crisp and vivid visuals even though it only has a resolution of 1920*1080 and a refresh rate of 60Hz.
Though Xiaomi could have used a 90Hz or 120Hz display in its place, it still does a good enough job while running large applications with heavy animations, but lacks the prowess to handle competitive games.

The 23.8″ IPS panel offers a viewing angle of 178-degrees which is one of the reasons we love this monitor and can confirm that there was no loss of clarity or any distortion while viewing the display from the side.

While all this might seem well and good, the Xiaomi Mi desktop monitor 1C doesn’t bode well with dark visuals and instead of an all black background we reported grays at certain areas of the screen which need addressing.
Though this was reported only when the monitor brightness was a max, it’s still something that can affect user productivity.
Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C Malaysia Connectivity
If you’re looking for a monitor with numerous ports and connectivity options then the Mi Desktop Monitor 1C is not for you.
However, if minimal is your scene then this monitor will sit well in any setup you have going at home.

On the back there is only a single HDMI port, one D-Sub port, and a menu joystick. There was no 3.5mm audio port and the lack of functionality made it seem like Xiaomi designed this monitor without entertainment in mind.
However, since there’s a D-Sub port, I was able to connect three monitors together using a splitter and had an impressive workstation setup going.
Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C Malaysia Functionality
The Xiaomi Mi Desktop Monitor 1C was quite easy to set up and use. The kit contained all the key components to build the monitor including the stand, screws, L shaped allen key and a detailed guide to install the monitor.
Accessing the on screen settings was a cakewalk and it can be achieved by pressing the joystick toggle at the back of the monitor which also doubles as a power button
We found various settings such as standard, eco, game, movie and low blue light that can be enabled by clicking on the joystick at the back of the monitor.
An interesting feature, one that I personally like using while running high performance apps is the Overdrive menu. This option drops the response time of the monitor in such a way that color changes appear smooth.
While we do not know the exact extent of the drop in the response time, it’s safe to say that from what we tested, the monitor can not achieve 1ms response time and hence is not a good buy for competitive gamers.
