Xiaomi may be the youngest smartphone manufacturer in the world right now but it is no less popular than industry titans – Samsung, LG, Apple or Huawei. Founded in 2010 by Lei Jun, a Chinese billionaire entrepreneur, Xiaomi became one of the most popular smartphone and consumer electronics brands in certain countries around the globe. I’ve personally used all Types of Xiaomi Phones and the technology has never ceased to amaze me.
The wide variety of smartphone lines offered by Xiaomi can be baffling at times, but if all the different numbers and offshoots are ignored, five main lines of smartphones remain and they have earned their well-deserved reputation through these past 10 years.

The best type of Xiaomi phone is the Mi series. The Mi series come with latest snapdragon chips and high-end camera. This series is known to be Xiaomi’s flagship series. The Xiaomi Mi 10 is the latest edition of the Mi series and comes with a quad-camera setup with the main camera being 108MP. It also has 4,780mAh battery. It’s also affordable at $600.

Xiaomi 12S Ultra

The Ultimate Xiaomi phone for 2022 is the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra can go head to head with the likes of the Samsung S22 Ultra and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The phone features all the best specs and features that make it an attractive option for anyone who wants the best of the best.
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is easily the best Xiaomi phone thanks to its 120Hz AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, and a 1-inch Leica sensor. These are currently the best specs you can get on a smartphone, and they translate well into real-world performance as well.

Display
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra’s display is simply superb. The 6.73-inch display is a 10-bit LTPO2 AMOLED screen with a resolution of 1440 x 3200 pixels.
The screen has a dynamic refresh rate of 120 Hz and can switch between 1 and 120 Hz. This allows it to preserve battery life and offer a super smooth experience.Â
The display also has HDR certifications like HDR10+, and Dolby Vision making it one of the best displays you can get on a smartphone. The 10-bit panel can display up to 1 billion colors and the 1000+ nits of peak brightness is only short of the S22 Ultra.Â
All in all, the Xiaomi 12S Pro has the best display on a Xiaomi phone and it is almost as good as the S22 Ultra.
Camera
This is where Xiaomi has cooked up something special. They have partnered with Leica to create the best camera hardware for a smartphone. Xiaomi and Leica have fitted a 1-inch sensor on the back of the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, that takes DSLR-like images.Â
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra can take images with amazing clarity and natural bokeh. There are no other smartphone cameras that come close when you compare the bokeh quality. The large sensor is also great for nighttime shooting, capturing more light than other sensors.Â
If you want the ultimate stills-taking smartphone, then the Xiaomi 12S Ultra is the way to go. When it comes to videos, the Xiaomi 12S loses to the iPhone 13 Pro Max and S22 Ultra, but only by a little. I love taking pictures with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.
For secondary cameras, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra does put up a good fight, the ultrawide and periscope lenses are top-notch as well. But for selfies, I prefer the iPhone and S22 Ultra.Â
Performance
The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is a step up from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The new chip is more efficient and powerful which makes the Xiaomi 12S Ultra one of the fastest phones to get. Xiaomi has optimized performance well.Â
You also get up to 12 GBs of RAM and 512 GBs of storage. These are top-of-the-line memory so no complaints. As I said, the optimization of the MIUI 13 on the 12S Ultra is excellent as well. From my use, everything felt fast, smooth and responsive.Â
Battery
WIth the new Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Xiaomi is able to squeeze out more battery life thanks to the efficient TSMC 4nm process. This makes the Xiaomi 12S Ultra one of the best battery life smartphones. It gets beaten only by the iPhone 13 Pro Max and monsters like Asus ROG Phone 6 with a 6000 mAh cell.
One area where Xiaomi took a step backward is in the charging department. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra only supports 67W fast charging, while the last Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra and its cheaper sibling, the Xiaomi 12 Pro both feature 120W fast charging.Â
While Xiaomi’s 67W charging beats most flagships in its price category, 120W would have made it truly ultra. In the real world, the Xiaomi 12 Pro takes only 21 minutes to charge, while the 12S Ultra takes around 50 mins to charge from 0 to 100%.Â
The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has wireless charging and reverse wireless charging capabilities too.
Xiaomi 11T Pro

The Xiaomi 11T is the best Xiaomi phone you can buy in the US right now without having to worry about importing and other problems. The phone has a beautiful AMOLED screen and competent cameras for the price.Â
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 888, which is still a ridiculously fast CPU. The 11T Pro supports 5G along with all the bands (14 bands) you will need. This is easily one of the best Xiaomi Gaming phones you can buy right now.Â

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

Xiaomi’s Ultra model from last year is still a great option if you want the best when it comes to hardware and features. The Mi 11 Ultra is powerful, big, and versatile. You get two screens, one of the biggest camera sensors on a smartphone, and a large battery with 120W fast charging support.Â

Xiaomi Redmi Phones
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11

Xiaomi launched the latest generation of the beloved Redmi Note series recently. And as usual, the series has proved to be popular for offering excellent value for money. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 might offers a good package for its price as well.Â
The new Redmi Note 11 offers a performance, camera, and battery upgrade over its predecessor. Along with the design overhaul, the new Redmi Note 11 seems to be an exciting addition to the lineup.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Specifications
Model | Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 |

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 DesignÂ
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is a budget phone and you can feel it from its design. The phone features a plastic back which is not a bad thing as plastic is durable. The phone has flat sides which makes it stand out from other budget phones who have curved sides.Â
The Redmi Note 11 has the volume rocker and the power button (also the fingerprint sensor) on the right side. This is my preferred button placement as I can easily access everything I need as a right-handed person. The 3.5mm jack is on the top of the phone, while the USB-C port is at the bottom.
The stereo speakers can be found on the top and the bottom of the phone as well. I love the fact that the speakers are placed symmetrically for the best stereo experience. There is a quad camera setup on the back and I like the arrangement compared to its predecessor, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 10.
Overall, the design, while simple has no issues. The phone also feels durable but not premium. I personally dig the flat sides and symmetric stereo speakers the most. The phone is also sized well and is lightweight, making it ergonomic for all-day use.Â
The left-hand side has the SIM slot. The Redmi Note 11 has support for dual SIM cards and a microSD card.Â
You can find the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 in three color variants, Graphite Gray, Twilight Blue, and Star Blue, out of which, Star Blue is my favorite.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Display
The Redmi Note 11 has a superb display for its price. The phone has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that is large enough for most people. The display is bright, vibrant, and pleasing to look at. With a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels and 409 PPI, the Redmi Note 11 was sharp and clear no matter what content I consume.
Xiaomi didn’t cut corners and offers a 90 Hz refresh rate and 180 Hz touch sampling rate. Both of these come together to offer a fast, responsive, and smooth experience. The small camera cutout is also unobtrusive and makes for a good content consumption phone.Â
Ultimately, the Redmi Note 11 has the best smartphone display under 250 SGD. The display is bright for outdoor use, fast and responsive for navigation/gaming, and colorful for movies/videos. I love the display on the Redmi Note 11. The display is also protected by Gorilla Glass 3 which is a cool addition.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Performance
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 is powered by the Snapdragon 680. This processor is a good chip for daily tasks like browsing and for even some gaming. It may not set benchmarks on fire, but it offers a good experience for the price.Â
The Redmi Note 11 offers good RAM and storage too, the LPDDR4X RAM is fast and so is the UFS 2.2 storage. This makes the phone snappy and fast when it comes to opening apps, games, and files. You can choose the phone from 4/6 GB RAM options along with 64/128 GB storage options.Â
The hardware coupled with the new MIUI 13, the Redmi Note 11 offers good performance no matter what you are doing. The processor could have been better, but it’s still no slouch and will keep you happy for anything that isn’t GPU intensive.
I also don’t like how Xiaomi didn’t provide Android 12 with the Redmi Note 11. Android 12 is better than Android 11 and Google’s latest Android OS was already a few months old at the phone’s launch. This and the processor are the aspects where I think Xiaomi could have done better with the Redmi Note 11.Â
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Camera
Cameras on budget phones are rarely amazing, but are still important when it comes to influencing buyers. Sadly, budget buyers usually think quantity is better than quality when it comes to cameras.Â
Regardless, the Redmi Note 11 features a decent camera setup and is much better than most smartphones in the price category. The phone has four sensors out of which only two are usable.Â
The 50 MP primary wide camera is good for daylight conditions, while it struggles at night. The 8 MP ultra-wide camera is a decent alternative for wide-angle shots. The 2 MP macro and depth sensors are pretty much useless.Â
The phone supports 720p and 1080p video recording at 30 fps, which is not good for this day and age. Xiaomi should have added 60fps recording support.Â
The 13 MP selfie camera will make most users happy for the occasional selfie and video call. The phone tends to over-process images but nowadays almost all phones including flagships do this, which is a shame.Â
Overall, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 offers a good camera experience. It is not amazing, but it holds its own against the competition. I wish instead of offering garbage tier macro and depth sensors, Xiaomi would improve the main or ultrawide sensors.Â
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Battery
Battery is one of Xiaomi’s strongholds. They have almost always offered some of the best battery life and technology in every price category.
This is not different from the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11. The phone comes with a non-removable 5000 mAh Li-Po battery. A large battery combined with the efficient 6nm Snapdragon 680, the phone offers excellent battery life.Â
While the Snapdragon 680 is not great for performance, it at least shines at battery efficiency. So some redemption for Xiaomi’s choice in the processor department.
The best part is that Xiaomi offers 33W fast charging with the Redmi Note 11 which can charge the phone in just over an hour. This is better than mid-range phones like the Samsung A series and iPhone SE.
I love the battery life and the charging performance of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11. It is my favorite part of the phone.Â
Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G

The new entry in the famous line of Redmi Note smartphones, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is an upgrade over last year’s hugely popular Note 10 Pro 5G.Â
As the name suggests, this is a 5G phone. And what is impressive is that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G supports 13 5G bands unlike the others in its price category that only support a few.Â

This unique smartphone with its stunning features and quality specs is one of the smash hit devices of 2021. It has an amazing 120Hz screen with 1080*2400 resolution display. With its long-lasting battery life and 64MP rear camera, this is undoubtedly the best deal you can ask for.
