Xiaomi has dominated the market with their smartphones, wearables and tablets over the years and it would only be fitting for the brand to venture into the computer space.
They unveiled the Mi Notebook two years ago and the response from the general public was overwhelmingly positive so the brand decided to take it a step further and release the RedmiBook, designed specifically for working-class individuals.
The RedmiBook Pro delivers high performance with a combination of H-series Core i5 CPU with NVMe SSD storage.Â
However, Xiaomi did cut corners with this model as the laptop is made from plastic and lacks a backlit keyboard, fingerprint scanner and does not have any type-C USB port.Â
Fast Forward to 2022, Xiaomi launched a successor to the 2021 RedmiBook Pro and the new model comes with some significant upgrades such as a faster processor, graphics card, and they’ve even used aero-space grade aluminum to replace the plastic body.
So, is the Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro really worth buying in 2022? Let’s find out whether or not you should invest in one.

Highlights of the Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro
Heavy Duty Chassis – I truly loved that Xiaomi took the initiative to overhaul the design and chassis of the RedmiBook Pro. The 2022 RedmiBook Pro has an aero-grade aluminum chassis that’s uber durable and is built to last.
Latest Gen Processor – Another brilliant feature of the 2022 RedmiBook Pro is the latest 12th Gen Core i5-12450H processor that runs on 12 threads and can clock a maximum of 4.40GHz. Believe me when I say this, this amount of power is more than enough and could easily handle anything I threw at it.
Large High Res Display – A notable feature of the RedmiBook Pro is its display. The laptop comes with a 15.6-inch 3.2K UHD display that has a resolution of 2000*3200p and 90Hz refresh rate. It is bright and the colors look quite dynamic making it the perfect screen to watch movies or video.

Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro Design India
From what we can tell, the RedmiBook Pro has received major upgrades in terms of design and body build.Â

What was a plastic body earlier in the 2021 model has now been upgraded to a 6-series aviation aluminum chassis that’s been put through a 170 precision ceramic sandblasting process for precise cut outs for all the ports and vents.

It feels sleek to the touch and resembles the MacBook Pro. Unlike its predecessor, the new and improved RedmiBook Pro comes equipped with a 3.5mm headphone jack, a built-in SD card reader, fingerprint power key and even supports Thunderbolt 4, USB-C as well as HDMI 2.0 via the sides of the body.
Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro Display
The best part about the RedmiBook Pro is its 15.6-inch 3.2K display with 90Hz refresh rate. The resolution is 3200*2000p and with a brightness of 400 nits we could see everything clearly, even during the day, with no glare whatsoever.

The built-in light sensor was a nice touch that can sense the time of day based on the amount of light in the room and will automatically adjust the brightness of the display as well as the keyboard.
I personally liked the fact that this high-performance display has DC dimming and Rheinland TuV certification making it entirely safe on the eyes. So long exposure to UV light and the worry of damaging your eyes are a thing of the past with the new RedmiBook Pro.
Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro Performance
In terms of performance, the RedmiBook Pro is a true beast. It’s equipped with the latest 12th Gen Core H45 processor which can support up to 10 cores and 16 threads. Trust me when I say this, the RedmiBook Pro is the perfect laptop to handle any business related tasks with ease.
In addition to the uber cool processor, the RedmiBook also has the new RTX2050 graphics card with 4GB memory that’s designed to tackle hardcore graphics processes and tasks such as games and designing on photoshop.

For avid gamers who want to pick up the RedmiBook Pro, i’d say go for it. The 2022 models now come with a Hurricane Cooling system that included dual fans, a heat pipe and a really efficient SSD heat dissipation system.
The RedmiBook comes stock with 16GB DDR5 high-frequency memory and coupled with a PCIe 4.0 SSD, it will load an application without any delay. It worked wonderfully while playing GTA 5, Call of Duty, PuBG and even Crysis.
It runs stock Windows 11 and has a 1 year support plan as well as a one year subscription to Office Home.
Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro India Sound Output
While listening to music the RedmiBook Pro performed exceptionally well, but when switching over to watching movies, there was a drop in the overall volume output.Â

Though the laptop comes with 2x2W stereo speakers and Dolby DTS audio, it does not perform as expected and there are other laptops out there that produce louder and clearer sound.
If the speakers are a tad low, then plug in your headphones to either the 3.5mm audio port or the USB-C port and experience better quality audio.
Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro Trackpad and Keyboard
I found the trackpad and the keyboard to be quite refreshing to use. It’s a full sized keyboard with 19mm large key spacing and at the bottom sits the PTP touchpad that offers precise cursor control and multi-finger gesture support.
The trackpad is nice and large, making it easier to use and it was quite smooth while scrolling, switching between apps and even zooming in and out of a screen.Â
Xiaomi RedmiBook Pro India Battery
Probably the biggest upgrade since the 2021 RedmiBook Pro has to be the battery and charging capabilities. The new RedmiBook Pro comes with 130W fast charging that is more than enough to take the RedmiBook Pro’s 72Wh battery from 0-50% in under 30 minutes.
Also, the charging port is USB-C unlike the earlier models and from the video tests we conducted, the RedmiBook was able to last up to 12 hours on a single charge which is quite impressive considering the hardware under the hood.
